We work with leaders to unlock the power of evidence-based solutions - improving policies, practices and systems - to create opportunities for every child to learn, thrive, and build a better future.

The Challenge

70% of children in low-income countries can't read by age 10 - rising to 90% in Sub-Saharan Africa.

We know so much of what works to get children into school and improve learning, but evidence-based policy and programme changes have been too slow to address the growing crisis. Too much evidence of what’s impactful and how to deliver change doesn’t address real-life challenges in low-income or crisis contexts;  it is rarely actionable, often pay-walled, and hard to understand. 80% of evidence, most often from local sources, which contains valuable insights and solutions, is not even published, meaning it is unseen and unused.

These barriers, that prevent leaders from using evidence to transform education, are surmountable.

Our Solution

We are working with education leaders to turn evidence into opportunities, responding to their needs to deliver solutions.

We develop guidance that addresses long-standing challenges by bringing structure and clarity to large volumes of published and unpublished evidence. Lifting and analyzing local experiences alongside academic research before distilling into actionable guidance. We support its uptake by policy and programme leaders – catalyzing improvement in practices, policies and systems for the hardest-to reach children and young people.

Our flagship guidance on accelerated education programmes distilled evidence from 750 sources into 4 pages of actionable insights. This work influenced national guideline development in Sub-Saharan Africa and is being used in Kenya and Sierra Leone, impacting up to 2.3 million students.

Policy and Programme Leaders endorse Education.org

"By together identifying solutions and building the capacity to tackle the identified challenges more effectively with evidence, Education.org is helping us to stand on our feet… This is different from all other partners, who tell you: ‘This is the water; drink it’."

"Our Ministry is committed to making decisions based on the best evidence. Accelerated Education can help out-of-school children learn and progress, and now we have guidelines to ensure the quality of these programmes, based on independent analysis and guidance from Education.org. There is no other actor in our sector providing this type of support."

"I am glad to see that Education.org seeks to achieve greater visibility of evidence from various sources. Visibility is also Power. This will help us all to navigate tensions of power and ownership, and addressing this is long overdue."
